As some of you may have seen, I posted a job on the networks for assistance to collect documents from my clients office in Winchester and deliver to potentially 4 separate addresses in Dartford Kent and surrounding area. Originally the doc's were to be served at 2 office addresses but because of time restraints the docs then also had to be served upon the individual defendants at their home addresses

Sarah, who has recently left the force and set up as freelance took the job on and began her journey at 13.00. Having arrived at the clients office she was then made to wait around for over an hour for the courier who was transporting the documents from the High Courts in London. Eventually they arrived and the long journey began. The roads were now packed with rush hour traffic and to add to the frustration the Dartford tunnel was closed.

Now knowing that the time frame had passed to serve the documents during office hours it was a case of persuasion and persistence. The first location was an office complex, which was closed for the evening as it was now 19.30 hrs but she managed to to persuade a member of staff still there to let her in and leave the doc's inside a locked office. Result.

The second location had no letterbox and there was no way of leaving the wad of documents... bugger!

Setting off across town and into the sticks and on to the 3rd, by this time is was nearing 21.00 hrs and I was in constant contact via mobile with Sarah trying to find the property on Google Maps from my office whilst she drove relentlessly back and forth trying to find the house down an unlit country road as there was a discrepancy with the address. Address was eventually found with the help of an old lady, documents served: Result!

Then last but not least, the 4th was served by way of leaving the docs on the doorstep as the defendant would not personally accept them but gave his instructions through an open window, the time now nearing 22.00hrs: Result.

There was a moment of apprehension as I lost contact with Sarah for 30 mins just after the first personal serve due to poor signal area, knowing she could handle herself in most situations doesn't distract the fact that she was a lone female driving down dark country lanes looking for property.

She arrived home well after midnight! (12 hours and over 300 miles later)

So, a BIG thank you for your tremendous efforts, persistence and the fact you never once moaned or complained, despite Google Maps and Bing Maps flagging up the wrong house! ;-)

No doubt we all have a story to tell but I felt the efforts were worth mentioning as lately I have had a run of agents acting on my behalf who struggled to get even the basics right. I am a believer in offering praise and credit where credit is due. It also demonstrates the calibre of ELG members I think!

Thank you Sarah.
